Beth Chatto Gardens

A soggy weekend in April was transformed by a visit to The Beth Chatto Gardens located in Elmstead Market near Colchester. A 45 minute drive from Edwardstone.

A truly inspirational landscape divided into 4 planting sections – Wood, Gravel, Scree and Water. For professional or amateur gardeners there is so much in these several acres of ex swampland to please the eye during any season. The natural planting in dry and wet soil in both sun and shade, shows that anything is possible.

The variety of plants for sale in the nursery and the excellent tea rooms means that you do not leave empty handed or hungry.

So well worth a visit even in the pouring rain – can’t wait to return in full sun.
