So far as romantic short breaks go, it doesn’t get much more romantic than a thatched, 15th century barn in rural Suffolk. Deepwell Barn sits in the Buxhall Vale, not far from the market town of Stowmarket. Surrounded by two acress of garden, woodland and orchard, it’s the sort of place to relax, laze around in the hammock or play lawn games such as boules, badminton or croquet.
Lots of added extras are generously supplied by the owners. Apart from the hammock and lawn games, there’s a BBQ, bikes and a well thought through breakfast basket, with supplies for the first cooked breakfast of your holiday.
The barn may be old, but the interior has a fresh, contemporary feel. Bright and airy, with floor to ceiling windows, offering views of the garden, the mix of modern and antique furniture sit well with the beautiful exposed beams. The medieval beams are everywhere from the open plan living space downstairs, to the galleried bedroom and even in the en suite bathroom upstairs!
