The Great House | Lavenham

The Great House in Lavenham is an award-winning ‘restaurant with rooms’ and sits slap bang in the middle of what many people consider to be the best preserved medieval village in England. Owned by Regis and Martine Crepy for over 30 years, the restaurant has built a loyal following and a proud reputation for fine cuisine.

The accolades and awards the Crepys have clocked up over the years is impressive: The restaurant has three AA Rosettes, which puts it in the top 8% of AA listed restaurants in England; it was included in Tatler’s list as being one of the ‘Best 300 restaurants in the UK’ in 2015; the AA gave it their Inspectors’ Choice & Gold Award for 2016 and it is recommended by Alistair Sawday. High praise indeed.

The menu is seasonal and a mix of French and British cuisine, with plenty of fish, English lamb, Scottish beef and an exquisite selection of French cheeses and wines. The service is perfect: friendly, discreet and efficient, with just the right amount of formality to make things feel a bit special.

A reasonably priced, three course lunch menu is offered for around £25 and dinner for around £36. Sample menus and prices are on The Great House website.
