Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn

Blackthorpe Barn near Bury St Edmunds is a medieval, thatched building which lends itself perfectly to Christmas events. Every year, Christmas craft markets take place there and the building fills with the gentle hum of shoppers ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ over the wonderful crafts available to buy and the air is scented with freshly baked mince pies and mulled wine.

It’s a delightful place and the crafts are all of exceptional quality with art prints, ceramics, jewellery, knitwear, candles, woodwork and more. It’s also a really nice opportunity to buy direct from the makers and to talk to them about their craft.

The coffee shop serves delicious homemade cakes, light lunches and of course mulled wine and there is also a Christmas shop full of decorations (not handmade). Freshly cut Christmas trees from the nearby Rougham estate are for sale in all shapes and sizes and there is a lovely programme of workshops for making Christmas wreaths, garlands and felt decorations.
