Discover Suffolk

Discover Suffolk From the Brecks to the Sandlings and from the Broads to the estuaries, Suffolk is a county best explored on foot, from a bicycle or on the back of a horse. With over 5,000km of waymarked paths, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, long distance footpaths and national cycle routes, Suffolk offers a wealth of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

The Discover Suffolk project started in 2006 as a partnership led by Suffolk County Council. The objective is to improve and develop access to the countryside and to promote walking and cycling in Suffolk. Project managers want to encourage all of us to get up and enjoy the great outdoors that we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep.  The Discover Suffolk website has a wide range of suggested walking routes and loads of great ideas for a day out in the country. You will find ideas and inspiration for everything from a riverside stroll for all the family to a day long hike along secluded valleys.

You can download over 70 circular walks, long distance walking trails and cycle routes and discover all of Suffolk’s country parks, nature reserves and picnic sites.

The Discover Suffolk project also organises, along with all the Suffolk local authorities, the annual Suffolk Walking Festival.

We interviewed Discover Suffolk Project Manager David Falk for the Suffolk Guide, you can read the interview here.
