Group Tours of the Jim Lawrence Forge

Jim Lawrence The Ironworks Lady Lane Hadleigh Suffolk IP7 6BQ

01473 826929

This is a guest post from the folks over at Jim Lawrence, a stylish homewares company in Hadleigh, Suffolk:

Jim Lawrence is a family-run business based in Hadleigh, producing handcrafted classic period and contemporary home furnishings. Many of our earliest customers will remember the farm forge in Stoke-by-Nayland when Jim started making candlesticks for friends in 1993.

Since then, we have seen the relocation to Hadleigh, huge expansion to our range and the completion of our custom-built workshop; home to around 60 skilled welders, painters and engineers.

We would be delighted to welcome visitors for a tour of our new workshop to see our team in action and the creation of our products from the very first stages welding of steel and brass.

As well as the main forge and machinery, you will be shown around the spray room, where we use both wet and powder paint as well as a hand-finishing method of our products. We will also be able to demonstrate the process of our most popular traditional finishes, using molten Beeswax, the antiquing of brass and our new heritage copper. You will be able to follow the manufacturing process through to our wiring room and certified testing of electrical products before it reaches the packing department.

Our talented seamstresses will also be able to show visitors our bespoke soft furnishings and how our extensive fabric range is used in the form of curtains, blinds and lampshades.

We offer these tours on any working weekday between 9am-4pm and our showroom remains open until 5.30 pm to browse our full range at your leisure and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. Our friendly staff will also be able to recommend some of our personal favorite eateries in the area!

To arrange a group tour, please call Clare on 01473 826929. Our tours are completely free but we do ask kindly for a small donation to a local charity. (Please note, for your own safety there is a max of 10 per group).
