Kersey Mill in Suffolk

Kersey Mill Kersey Ipswich Suffolk IP7 6DP

01473 829317

I had a nice visit to Kersey Mill recently, meeting friends for coffee and delicious homemade cake in the lovely cafe restaurant The Copper Kettle  followed by a mooch around the boutiques on the premises.

Just a short distance from the picturesque village of Kersey, set in the peaceful Suffolk countryside, Kersey Mill once operated as a flour mill and the current owners would like to see this function fully restored.

The mill has undergone extensive restoration over the years and the work that still needs doing includes reinstating the wheel and all the machinery needed to turn it after the 70 years or so of inactivity. The ultimate aim is to open it as a working museum and to this end, talks are underway with English Heritage, Natural England and the Suffolk Mills Group.

Recently in new ownership, the mill has been developed into a visitor attraction and wedding venue with a gym, beauty salon, pilates studio, a high end second hand clothes shop specialising in posh outfits and hats for special occasions, the aforementioned coffee shop, a flower shop, craft market and a workshop where people can attend classes to learn a range of crafts.

Glass & Craft offer workshops in glass painting and decopatch (a modern twist on decoupage) and the classes are ideal for children’s and adults’ parties and a lovely range of crafts are for sale too, mainly items from local crafts people such as Gail’s Glass and Millie Moo Knitwear.

Do pop along to Kersey Mill soon and keep an eye on their website for special events, workshops and special offers.
