Priory Green

A tiny rural hamlet nestled into ancient Suffolk Countryside, most locals don’t even know where it is, even the single track by-lane it is on turns into a green lane leading to nowhere but homes for buzzards and brown owls, deer and badgers.

The pretty little village of Boxford with some handy shops and pubs is 3 miles away, lovely Kersey 3, famous Lavenham 4 and Sudbury with all the shops you need just 4 miles away.

Once all the land around here was belonging to the Brand Estate of Edwardstone but was sold by the philanthropist John Morden husband to Susan Brand in 1695 to fund the building of Morden College. In recent years our Edwardstone church roof was in a very poor state and Morden College was reminded of this historic debt and paid not only for the roof but also for a new organ !

The countryside around Priory Green reflects the old Estate use with some impressive old Oaks lining the lanes and many footpaths.

The South Suffolk Cycle route winds its way past us to our local pub which has its own brewery : The Edwardstone White Horse and onwards towards Kersey which is Suffolk’s prettiest Medieval Village and Lavenham which is England’s best preserved Medieval Village.
